Completed in December 2018, a custom GSky®Pro Wall® living wall system envelops the new IPIC Entertainment corporate headquarters and theater in Delray Beach, Florida in multiple hues. Spanning nearly 2,000 ft², the Pro Wall® system decorates the 5th Avenue façade of the iPic Entertainment development.

“The green wall at IPIC instantly became a focal point for our city and downtown area. The green wall through its shapes, colors, and textures of the plant material is an artistry for the entire community to enjoy.” ~ Carol Perez, Principal, A. Grant Thornbrough & Associates

IPIC Entertainment offers an innovative luxury theater experience with high-end dining, live events, and integration into mixed-use properties. Recognized as one of the fasted-growing companies in the country by Inc., it operates 15 U.S. locations and is currently developing 16 new U.S. theaters. The Delray Beach site is a flagship theater for the chain.

In 2013 IPIC was selected by Delray Beach’s Community Redevelopment Agency as the unanimous winner for the city’s old library site on Fourth and Fifth avenues. Situated on a 1.57-acre site, the theater is located a half-block south of the sizzling East Atlantic Avenue in the center of downtown and is the first movie theater to be built in the city in more than 40 years.

“It’s a great nighttime destination and it really made sense for us to build a theater here. It’s the one element that’s been missing in downtown. You have a lot of restaurants and a lot of bars, but besides that, there’s not a whole lot more to do as far as entertainment is concerned.” ~ Hamid Hashemi, founder, CEO and president of iPic Entertainment via Sun Sentinel

Designed by GSky’s Debbie Kotalic—and comprising over 20,000 individual plants in 9 varieties—the biophilic design leads viewers’ eyes down the street with its sweeping, interactive curves and textured foliage.

The advanced Pro Wall® green wall system features one-foot-by-one-foot pre-grown planted panels of durable Rockwool, offering a highly customizable palette for vertical exterior designs of small or expansive dimensions. Additionally, the system’s waste-reducing drip irrigation design minimizes water usage. As a major sustainable architectural feature in urban Delray Beach, the Pro Wall cleans the air and muffles sound pollution. The Wall is protected by GSky’s standard comprehensive maintenance program with hardware coverage and plant guarantee.

Six years in the making and boasting a 4-level upscale social destination, the IPIC Delray Beach opened to the public on March 7, 2019 with a grand opening gala. The entertainment venue encompasses fine dining and an 8-screen, 429-seat luxury movie theater.

“Entertainment and fine dining come together at IPIC, Delray Beach to make every experience, Exclusively Yours. Experience an intimate date night or gathering with friends & family in our auditoriums, lounge and bar spaces. Enjoy the latest films reclined in the privacy of our patent pending custom designed Pods where you can dine in the dark and enjoy our chef-driven theater menu and mixology offerings.” ~ IPIC Entertainment Delray

The IPIC Delray theater encompasses the ground floor with mezzanine space, and the office space occupies the 3rd and 4th levels with large public deck areas and retail space on the fourth floor. The venue has a 329 space parking garage and valet parking.

In addition to the living wall, the building has a distinctive white web skin and web canopy over the deck. And the IPIC Delray Beach corporate headquarters is filled with art, creating a backdrop of interesting and inspiring works.

“More than a dozen artists were commissioned to create site-specific work for the exteriors and interiors of iPic. On a wall in the lobby, vivid swatches of living Spanish moss emerge from holes like the remnants of a buried forest, and artist Ernest Zacharevic painted the children that frolic among the foliage.” ~ boca, 2019

With a gourmet menu by Food Network star Sherry Yard, complimentary pillow and blanket plus unlimited popcorn at every seat – among other amenities – movie goers enjoy a unique theater experience in comfort at IPIC Entertainment. The iconic design of the GSky Pro Wall® living wall creates a major exterior art piece in Florida and a wonderful addition to the vibrant environment of downtown Delray Beach.
