In anticipation of Greenroofs.com‘s spectacular 2015 Virtual Summit on April 6 through May 31 – and in order to familiarize you with the event – we are now making the Greenroofs & Walls of the World™ Virtual Summit 2013 videos publicly available on our GreenroofsTV channel on YouTube to all free of charge.
Today we have the pleasure to air “Green Roofs on Lean-tos in Adirondack Wilderness Areas” by Alison Liedkie, at the time (2013) a senior at Paul Smith’s College in the Adirondack State Park in New York. Alison participated in our inaugural “Inspiration Nook.”
Even if you were not presenting, as an attendee you could submit your under 3 minute (non-overtly commercial) videos of research, ideas, projects, poster boards, thought leadership, etc., which were followed by your own live Discussion Chat.
This series is focused around sparking conversation, ideas, dialogue and connections around a specific greenroof/wall-related topic – a mosaic of bright ideas for a greener world.
Alison’s capstone project was looking at the feasibility of putting green roofs on lean-tos in wilderness areas in the Adirondacks. Wilderness areas are the last remaining frontier and are worth protecting. The addition of green roofs can help the area directly as well as serving as an example to visitors. Alison invited your input on design options, and she did receive construction advice from a few attendees.
“Paul Smiths, NY, USA. Alison Liedkie is a senior at Paul Smith’s College in the Adirondack State Park, completing a degree in recreation, adventure travel and ecotourism. She is very interested in wilderness and sustainability and is looking for ways to combine the two.“ ~ VS2013
