Karen Weber-Salamanca began the nonprofit, Foundation for a Green Future in 2007, with the mission of creating awareness about green roofs, living walls and green infrastructure. The mission expanded to inspiring people to bring nature into their lives and urban space via a large outdoor multicultural environmental music festival, Boston GreenFest.

Boston GreenFest has become an award-winning event educating and empowering over 100,000 festival goers each year to create a more sustainable, healthier world. This year it has pivoted to a virtual event.

This mission couldn’t be more important today as we continue to fight the global COVID-19 pandemic and racial injustice. From business to nonprofit, neighborhood association to academic institution, Boston GreenFest spans age, culture and industry.

This year’s virtual event aims to offer a spectrum of sustainable ideas, products, stories, foods, fashion, innovation, design, and architecture from Boston and around the world, with a special emphasis on green design and green roofs woven into four days of this continuous livestream festival.
