on August 26, 2016 at 6:15 pm under

Hosted by the Green Roof info Think-tank (GRiT) in partnership with Portland State University, you are invited to join industry leaders for the Portland Ecoroof Symposium 2016 on October 2 and 3!

With a design and developer focus, the Ecoroof Symposium will be held at Portland State University.  It’s made possible with generous support of East Multnomah Soil & Water Conservation District, plus the Audubon Society of Portland and Firestone Building Products (sponsorships are still available).

Portland Ecoroof Symposium 2016

“As the vegetated roofing industry continues to grow and mature, the Ecoroof Symposium will showcase the most up-to-date research on the economic and environmental impacts that green roofs provide to buildings and cities. We are honored to host London’s own Dusty Gedge as our keynote speaker, as well as a research medley on topics such as enhanced real estate value, energy impacts, and biodiversity. Panels of experts and breakout sessions offer a wealth of experience on best practices to avoid concerns, and to extend the service life of the roof membrane and vegetation. Green roof tours can provide insight into a variety of systems and approaches.” ~ Portland Ecoroof Symposium 2016

It will be great to see our friend Dusty Gedge again, the current President of the European Federation of Green Roof Associations (EFB), author, and co-founder of Livingroofs.org, among other things.  We are sure to enjoy his Keynote, not to mention his world view of the state of the greenroof union!

And you have to admit the pricing for the Portland Ecoroof Symposium 2016 is super affordable:

I’m thrilled to have been invited back to speak this year, and I’ll be presenting my new “Top 10 Green Infrastructure Eco-Agents in a Climate-Changing World.”

An added enticement are the tours offered on Sunday October 1: you can choose between the Local Portland Greenroof Walk / Bike Tour or the Oregon Wine Country Greenroof Bus Tour – you can bet that Aramis and I will be on the Wine Country Tour!

We had the opportunity of visiting this lovely city back in 2010 when the City of Portland’s Bureau of Environmental Services (BES) was hosting the Portland Ecoroof Symposium.  They had a great turnout and we met some awesome people – along with tasting some equally awesome pinot noir, so the wine tour is definitely up our alley (see my posts about it at Ecoroof Portland, Day 1 and Day 2).

Please contact Elizabeth Hart, Executive Director of GRiT, if you have questions, or if you are interested in speaking or submitting a research topic as they still have a few speaking and panel spots open.  Elizabeth can be reached through the GRiT webpage or at elizabethkhart@comcast.net.

In case you are unaware, GRiT is a network of businesses, government agencies, non-profit organizations, students and community members, joining together to grow the knowledge and use of green roofs in the Pacific Northwest.

Visit the GRiT webpage for more information.

Hope to see you there!
