Detec Systems Announces the Release of a New Version of Electronic Leak Detection Testing Equipment

on May 24, 2021 at 2:35 pm under , ,

Bellingham, WA. (May 24, 2021) – Detec Systems recently released their 4th generation of the IntegriScan Electronic Leak Detection (ELD) quality control testing equipment. ELD pinpoints breaches, holes, and seam voids in roofing and waterproofing membranes by detecting a low voltage electrical current flowing through a wet membrane. Water used during the test passes through any discontinuities in the membrane and reaches an electrically grounded substrate such as structural concrete or TruGround® Conductive Primer. The equipment alarms at the exact location of the breach, indicating that an electrical path through the membrane, to the grounded substrate below has been detected.

The low voltage IntegriScan package includes the scanning platform which is capable of testing both non-conductive and semi-conductive horizontal membranes, including black EPDM. Also included in the package is a roller apparatus used for testing vertical surfaces such as walls, transitions, and details. Both ELD methods are listed in ASTM Guide D7877 and are explained in detail in ASTM Practice D8231, the only Standard Practice for Electronic Leak Detection.

Positive Customer Impact

“My first introduction to Electronic Leak Detection (ELD) was during my time in the technical department for a large waterproofing manufacturer in 2006. In the last 15 years, I have specified its use for verifying the integrity of waterproofing, roofing and coating systems throughout the United States, the Caribbean, Mexico, Central and South America. I have used the various methods for ELD on hospitals, data centers and other mission critical facilities. I have found that using the low voltage scanning platform and vertical roller (VSU) are the most effective and efficient ELD testing methods in the industry. The ability to pinpoint a breach and to scan larger areas in shorter amounts of time has proven invaluable to contractors and building owners. This equipment also allows for testing details such as pipe penetrations, curbs, etc. giving the building owner a better sense of security. In an industry where the details matter, I trust the Detec equipment to perform every time!”
