|Not far away from the London docks, above an underground shopping mall and the Canary Wharf Underground Station, this green zone was designed to create a counterpoint to the dense construction which dominate the surrounding area. The name ?Jubilee Park? is connected with the fact that the representative park had to be finished on time for the 50th anniversary celebration of the throne of Queen Elisabeth II. Jubilee Park was also opened by Her Majesty officially at this time. The roof garden park is open year round.|
In late October, 2003, Linda Velazquez had the pleasure of seeing lovely Jubilee Park as well as many of the other greenroofs on the Canary Wharf Estate with Livingroofs.org founder Dusty Gedge, who had her up and down greenroofs all day.
|The sprawling lawn is interspersed with solitary trees, and the winding paths leading through the park connect to raised, flowing serpentine fountains of stacked stone, creating a water-bound walkway. Other stone planters contain tall grasses and tree specimens (irrigated). This is truly the central feature in this landscaped park.|
