|Completed in November 2006 on top of the nine-story, 1,825-space parking deck of the Blue Cross Blue Shield headquarters, the Parking Garage is the first LEED® Certified parking structure. The greenroof sports an area for employee walking and a 1/10 mile (160 m) jogging track made of recycled rubber paving. Built with recycled steel and concrete, and it also recycles rain and irrigation water. Pumped through a piping system to a 120,000 gallon tank underground, Blue Cross Blue Shield then uses it to water the landscaping.|
As of May, 2013, this Blue Cross Blue Shield parking structure has the second largest greenroof in Michigan; it was the first greenroof in the city of Detroit.
