The National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) is gearing up for the upcoming Building Enclosure Science & Technology (BEST6) Conference.

BEST6 takes place March 19-20, at the Sheraton Austin Hotel at the Capitol in Austin, TX.

The conference theme is β€œThe Next Generation of Building Technology,” focusing on the impact of climate change on building enclosures, new techniques in building design and construction, durability, and sustainability.

The 2024 agenda will integrate technical sessions around two tracks: building science and building practice.

Schedule highlights include:

  • Keynote Sam Rashkin, author of Housing 2.0: A Disruption.
  • Plenary session featuring Mahmoud Al-Theeb, CEO, Royal Commission in Jubail.
  • Building science sessions around decarbonization, retrofitting, household energy audit tools, cool roofs and walls, user-friendly reflective insulation, low carbon building materials, and resilience.
  • Building practice sessions around roof insulation and condensation, air barriers and ventilation, thermo-active building technology, climate-positive building enclosures, and building envelope challenges.

Why should audience members attend?

Roof-related topics on the BEST6 agenda include: calculating moisture risk, reflective insulation, cool roofs and walls, energy impacts of roof insulation, and preventing interstitial roof condensation.

Conference programming and sessions begin March 19. Attendees are eligible for continuing education credits up to 12 AIA learning units.

Register to attend the conference.
