As we embrace the spirit of the holiday season, let’s come together to celebrate our achievements in the sustainable design arena, and each other: the interesting cultural differences and similarities that make us all humans living on the same blue planet together.

Don’t miss our brand-new VIDEO of the 2023 Top 10 List of Hot RESILIENT Trends in Greenroof & Greenwall Design! If you saw my presentation in Berlin in June, you’ll be happy to hear I’ve added more outstanding examples to round out the second half of the year. All you’ll need is internet access, a comfortable spot, a computer or other device and a beverage of your choice to sip as you take a Building Resilience with Living Architecture design joy ride across the globe in our just under 1-hour video. I had a great time curating these fantastic and important projects and look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with in 2024 to make the Earth a greener, cooler, and better place to call home.

Congratulations are in order for landscape architect’s Kongjian Yu’s prestigious 2023 Cornelia Hahn Oberlander International Landscape Architecture Prize from The Cultural Landscape Foundation! His Sponge Cities concept and he wonderfully represent the high integrity of design philosophy and standards for which the lovely Cornelia embodied with her body of built works. “He lives and breathes his conviction that landscape architecture is the discipline to lead effective responses to the climate crisis,” said TCLF President & CEO Charles A. Birnbaum, and we agree.

In a groundbreaking moment for IN/ARCH – the Italian National Institute of Architecture, the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award is conferred for the first time to a non-Italian architect. Emilio Ambasz, deeply touched by the generosity of this recognition, is an Argentinian by birth and a cosmopolitan by vocation, profoundly intertwined with Italy. He stands out as one of the most extraordinary designers in the global history of architecture.

You can check out more of Emilio Ambasz’ projects at his new Emilio Ambasz Virtual Museum website.

As we close 2023 and look forward to the promise of 2024, we at Greenroofs.com wish you and your families a very safe, healthy & happy New Year! Here’s a toast to seeing many of you somewhere in the living green architecture world in 2024!
