Moorgate Crofts Business Centre is an innovative business incubation centre developed by Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council. The state-of-the art building benefits from environmentally economic technologies such as geothermal heating and cooling, recycled materials and a 600sq/m green roof from Alumasc. Moorgate Crofts Business Centre occupies an elevated position overlooking the Don Valley is the first new building in the 25 year Rotherham Renaissance. The design of the building evolved to maximize the opportunities offered by a green roof and access the views across the valley.

Green Roof System: Alumasc warm roof system. Green Alumasc has supplied complete systems for two separate areas of the centre. The high-level roof features a sedum substrate, while the lower roof garden comprises a semi-intensive, bio-diverse system with paving to all four sides. The flexibility of the system and technical expertise available from Alumasc enabled the designers to overcome a number of challenges on the building. Alumasc FS75 drainage board was incorporated into the build-up of the steeply sloping sedum roof to prevent slippage of the substrate. Sedum mats were also used to prevent high winds from eroding the plants and substrate. At lower level, the semi-intensive, bio-diverse roof garden was based on a Floradrain 40 drainage board to allow drainage to continue underneath the stone paving. The paving was bedded in ZinColit crushed brick to ensure the area was pervious to water and reduce the possibility of water build-up at the low threshold details. An Alumasc Derbigum anti-root system provided an efficient, durable waterproofing system that met all the technical demands of the application.Size of Roof: 958m?
