C-MORE Hale is a state-of-the-art facility that supports comprehensive research on marine microbes, from molecular biology to ecology. C-MORE stands for Center for Microbial Oceanography: Research and Education. Total floor area: 26,997 ft2 including laboratories, offices, conference center, and mechanical penthouse. Hawai’i has 24 LEED certified projects (as of 2010) and C-MORE Hale is the inaugural effort at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa. It is the first to have LEED certification and the first to receive Platinum status.

The Green Living Wall installed at C-MORE measures 6 ft. L x 8 ft H and showcases an array of native Hawaiian and tropical plantings using minimal watering. It is a colorful focal point to welcome visitors into the entry way. The interior wall is 48 square feet total. The design and green wall is manufactured in the United States and features locally grown plants that help clean the air within the building. Locally grown, the C-MORE greenwall was designed and installed by 1st Look Exteriors designers Greg and Terri Lee.
