Greenroof Project of the Week for June 10, 2013: Sebert Landscaping Corporate Office

on June 26, 2013 at 10:09 pm under

Sebert Landscaping Corporate Office
Bartlett, IL, USA

6,500 sf. Greenroof

Project Description & Details

Sebert Landscaping’s multi-award winning LEED Gold certified corporate office was designed to be both a state-of-the-art green building and demonstration for clients and allied professionals. A green roof, along with permeable pavers, native plantings and a water feature that helps manage stormwater, are among the award-winning landscape elements recognized for sustainable construction.

The rooftop includes a patio area with wood decking made of reclaimed wood; furnishings, a pergola and lush planters provide a sense of enclosure. Beyond the patio is the passive portion of the rooftop, incorporating a LiveRoof modular system, whose pre-grown plants provided instant color and texture. It uses four-inch trays of Allium and Sedum, and six-inch trays of grasses, which together detain roughly 1,500 gallons of water in a one-inch rainfall. A $50,000 grant stemming from the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, administered by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, helped make the green roof possible.
