The United States Pharmacopeia (USP) is a non?governmental, official public standards?setting authority for prescription and over?the?counter medicines and other healthcare products manufactured or sold in the United States.

Construction on the new U.S. Pharmacopeia headquarters in Rockville, Md., was completed in 2007, with many of the staff moving
to their permanent locations at the end of August of that year. “The new headquarters?a work in progress since 2004?consists of two new structures: a 141,000 square foot office and laboratory building and a 16,000 square foot conference center.

“In addition to the much-needed additional space, the new headquarters provides other features, including: multiple new meeting facilities/rooms in addition to the main conference area; a vegetative green roof on top of the conference center; environmentally sound and energy conserving electric systems; a large break room, which also can serve as an overflow area for functions held in the courtyard (which itself is three times larger than the former courtyard); a fully functional gymnasium; and, bridge connectors from the new buildings to the existing building. The new headquarters will better serve USP?s staff, members, and volunteers,” (USP 2007).
