With enrollment of 725 students, the Simonsdale Elementary School serves the needs of youngsters from kindergarten to sixth grade. It is the division’s newest state of the art LEED Gold certified green building.

Completed on December 17, 2010, the green roof utilizes an unirrigated Roofmeadow Type I system with 3 inches of media. The pitch of the greenroof at the Simonsdale Elementary School ranges from 3/4:12 to 1/4:12. This ARRA funded project includes a green roof on the second story designed to reduce stormwater runoff and contribute to the preservation efforts the nearby Chesapeake Bay.
