Learn about Apex Green Roofs in The Greenroof & Greenwall Directory.
Harvard Business School’s Executive Education Complex opened the Ruth Mulan Chu Chao Center in June 2016. The first building on campus named after a woman and an American of Chinese descent, the building is Gold-certified LEED and features a rooftop country garden installed by Apex Green Roofs Inc.
Working with Harvard’s Office of Sustainability, Apex Green Roofs selected and sourced a hardy, colorful palette of over 20 perennials and a broad selection of herbs. Clumps of Mexican tarragon, purple sage, and basil are planted amongst blooming perennials and native grasses. The kitchen staff grow tomatoes in planters aside the green roof.
Within a one-year establishment period and continued maintenance with Apex Green Roofs the 3rd floor roof deck of the Chao Center is a thriving garden offering students and staff a plethora of flowers and edibles.
