For many years Sheffield Cathedral has been exploring how to improve the ways in which it serves people in the city, county and region. The new Community Resources Centre (CRC), which has been built on the site of the previous Cathedral Hall, provides a home for the award- winning Cathedral Archer Project and its work with the homeless and vulnerable. It also offers conference and meeting rooms, a gallery area, a large hall and substantial kitchen facilities. Rooms within the Centre will be used by City, Diocesan and other organisations and will host exhibitions, learning events and meetings. During the refurbishment the original turf roof, to the west of the church installed in 1960, was repaired and a further sedum roof was added above to compliment this in February, 2007. A sedum roof was chosen due to its low maintenance requirements.
