The Fraser Public Schools Building has a donated modular sedum greenroof covering 60 percent of the roof, intended to be a living classroom for its students. Officials will consider replacing the remaining traditional tar roof in the future, as it was updated in 1998 and still has useful life. Quoted in Metromode of 9.20.07 (see below), John Thompson, director of operations and maintenance for Fraser Public Schools says, "We look at it as a possible resolution to our roofing needs. Absolutely we would consider using green roofs again."
Students will be able to see how a greenroof works in this environmental lab, and energy savings will be measured over the fist few years as well. |
|
| Metromode states "Local businesses ? Avrie Group, JD Candler, Carlisle Syntec, Wakely Associates and Barton Malow ? are donating the materials and installation services for the $60,000 roof." The roof will have three modular greenroof systems including GreenGrid, LiveRoof and Xero Flor. |
