Jacobs Island is a 6000 m2 landscaped underground garage greenroof in the center of residential London owned by Berkeley Homes, Kent. Facing the Thames River, this courtyard is enclosed on three sides by luxury flats. The landscape design simulates a moated island accessed by a footbridge. Two thirds of the area is covered by water or soft landscape. Each inner courtyard resident has his own timber patio built on stilts over the moat, over the car park. Netting over the vent openings provides support for a variety of climbing plants.
