The Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center located in Mashantucket, Connecticut, is a state-of-the-art, tribally owned-and-operated complex, and brings to life the story of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation. It serves as a major resource on the history of the Tribe, the histories and cultures of other tribes, and the region's natural history.
The Museum is a great example of how a greenroof can be integrated into natural surroundings, resulting in an aesthetically pleasing and ecologically sensitive design. This particular greenroof application is not lightweight, as it is several inches deep and provides a depth suitable for the various flowers and shrub plantings including blueberry bushes, a strawberry patch, an herb garden, a gravel path, and sitting areas.
