"The U.S. Green Building Council has awarded Williams College's two new academic buildings LEED Gold status. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design is the USGBC's rating system for the design and construction of energy-efficient and high-performing buildings. The Williams buildings cited, Schapiro Hall and the North Academic Building, opened in 2008. They are the first in Berkshire County to attain Gold, and both have greenroofs.
