Construction of the Gaithersburg Library is expected to be complete in Summer 2013, with re-opening about 6 to 8 weeks later in Fall 2013. Partial funding for this project was provided by the County Library Capital Grant Program, Maryland State Department of Education, Division of Library Development and Services.

Completed in July, 2013, the new library green roof in Gaithersburg, MD is designed with a performing Green roof system that retains more than 1 inch of rain. The Hydropack green roof tray system from Vegetal i.D. will provide some insulation to the building which will decrease energy spends.

The Hydropack green roof system was installed on top of a TPO waterproofing membrane from Carlisle SynTec.
