Completed in 2009, One North Residences is a condominium development comprising 405 units located at 7 & 9 One-North Gateway, amidst lush flora and the greenery of One North Park. It is nestled within a 200 hectare, 15 billion dollar biomedical sciences and digital media hub, funded by the Singapore Government for research and development.

The Buona Vista MRT Station, elite local and international schools such as Anglo-Chinese Junior College and United World College of South East Asia and also the National University Hospital and National University of Singapore are in close proximity. Holland Village, where numerous restaurants and eating establishments, as well as supermarkets and other shops are located, is just a short bus ride away. The locality is quiet and serene and away from the hustle and bustle, but in reality, only 10 to 15 minutes from the vibrant Orchard Road shopping belt in the Central Business District (CBD).

One North Residences has full facilities, which include 2 clubhouses, 2 swimming pools, BBQ pits, fully equipped gymnasium, sky gardens, cascading water features, Jacuzzi, and playgrounds. Residents can also enjoy the rooftop sky pool and avant garde gardens with reflective pools. To blend into the natural landscape, the clubhouse at the swimming pool area is graced by an extensive green roof and the sky gym at the 8th storey is decked on both sides by 2 green walls, rising all the way up to the ceiling, fronted by unusual lampshade-trees and the sky garden.

To provide a Elmich VGM Green Wall system to enable vertical greening of 2 walls totaling about 60 m2 (646 sf) at the 8th storey sky gymnasium of the Condominium:

The Elmich VGM Green Wall is an architectural fa?ade system engineered to provide a cost-effective, safe and sustainable green wall. The system at One North Residences consists of structural modules (Vertical Greening Modules (VGM)) attached to pilasters welded onto steel support beams installed onto the walls up to the ceiling. Selected perennials were pre-planted in VGM modules in a nursery environment prior to installation. Adequate planting medium depth and volume in the VGM enables plants on the living wall to withstand harsh conditions. To help in adaptation to growing sideways, VGMs were first placed on their backs to allow the plants to take root and then gradually moving them to a vertical position in stages over a period of approximately 6 to 8 weeks. Once orientated to growing vertically, the modules were transported on site and attached with mounting brackets and hung on the wall. Irrigation and fertilisation of the plants is supplied by installation of a drip irrigation and fertigation system, which can be programmed for automatic operation.

To provide the extensive green roof system including the water retention and drainage trays for the rooftop of the club house at the main swimming pool area (about 140 m2 or 1,507 sf):

VersiDrain 25P water retention and drainage trays were positioned over the roof the waterproofing membrane on the roof, providing immediately a protection layer. A geotextile filter fabric layer is laid over the trays followed by primarily inorganic planting media. A network of irrigation tubing is incorporated to facilitate easy delivery of water to the plants. The bottom cavity provided by the drainage cells facilitates the efficient drainage of water preventing water-logging and promoting healthy plant growth.
