| Shadow Wood Preserve includes an 18-hole championship golf course, The Preserve, designed by award-winning architect Arthur Hills and built according to Audubon International guidelines. The Bonita Bay Group is developing Shadow Wood Preserve, the 440-acre master-planned community in South Lee County. Native plants and vegetation planted in the 2,400-square-foot greenroof on the roof of the community?s chemical storage building is expected to increase food sources and habitat for birds and butterflies, and is believed to be the first of this type in Southwest Florida. |
|
| According to an article in the Bonita Bay corporate website - see below - Charlie Miller is quoted "Because the climatic conditions are different in the Gulf Coast area, we will be introducing a different roof structure with particular emphasis on drainage, new plants and measures to withstand high winds". The greenroof is blending elements from three of the company?s six green roof systems ? aromatic, savannah and meadow. Three test zones on a flat-roofed 2,400 square foot building are augmented by additional test trays established at ground level. |
