|The Parc is a private sanctuary with expansive lawn areas and pool. The design is visually stunning viewed from the above apartments and provides a degree of separation and privacy for the apartments on the ground level. The Parc was created to add value to the residential development that encloses it, the green roof lowered residential density of the development but greatly increased its value.|
The aesthetic of the park also had to embody traditional qualities to reflect the style of the architecture. The Parc, which recently won silver at the NZILA ?Pride of Place Awards 2010?, is a true oasis in the heart of down town Auckland. It is a garden for the senses and the seasons. Designed by landscape architect Debbie Tikao of Natural Habitats The Parc is a place of serenity and relief from the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives.
|'The 3,500 m? private park was one of the first roof gardens of this size to be constructed. The structure underneath the garden was developed to support extra weight around the edges of the lawn where extra depth in soil was required for the establishment of trees. |
Growing media was specifically manufactured to be lightweight and the depth of the lawn within the centre of the park is only 100mm. Five years on and the garden is thriving.
