The GreenTech® Roof Top Garden System modules deliver excellent drainage and air flow capacity in a simple, cost effective and efficient manner. Previously utilized within the athletic field arena, they have been installed with demonstrated success at Wimbledon, U.S. Open, Millennium Stadium, Virginia Tech, Spartan Stadium at Michigan State, the Peachtree Golf Club, and most recently at Francisco Montaner stadium in Puerto Rico. Modules are 8 1/2" deep, but can support any soil depth, and the 46" square polyethylene modules can be cut for irregular contours. Foot locator pads connect the modules together. Compared with traditional construction methods, the modules' perforated bottom and pallet channels underneath the root-zone offer greater root-zone airflow and drainage capacity. Once installed, the drainage capacity of their modular drainage system is equal to 6" pipes, 21" on center, going in two directions. Water flows gravitationally through the modular system to the roof deck and out to the roof drains.
The Sachs family has a residential intensive greenroof using the GreenTech system in Chicago IL, completed in July, 2002. Located in an urban neighborhood, the couple desired a greenspace for their young children to play, and were able to design and install a green playground over their garage placing the GreenTech modules directly over the concrete slab in just one day.
