Emory Knoll Farms is a fifth generation farm in northern Maryland owned by Ed and Lucie Snodgrass. They are a perennial nursery specializing in green roof plants, currently stocking over 100 varieties of green roof plants and are always acquiring and testing new plants. Recently they constructed a 12 x 24' test greenroof on site, and have supplied plants for green roofs in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Virginia, North Carolina, and Ohio. They have R&D plots on site to test plants, soil mixtures and water retention qualities. Emory Knoll Farms is dedicated to sustainable design, and has instituted several sustainable design features into its operation. Solar power pumps all the water used in the greenhouse and photovoltaic cells supply most of its electrical needs. Emory Knoll Farms provide a wide selection of plant material, roof garden experience, and deep plugs for higher survivability, and are happy to custom propagate plants to specifications. Ed Snodgrass is a leader in horticultural consulting for greenroof projects. They currently have provided over 173,490 square feet of planted roofs!
