Nature back in the city!

10 years after the International Conference on Green Roofs Maia ’13, Landlab organizes, with the support of APAP and again in partnership with the Maia City Council, the International Conference on Green Roofs Maia ’23 – nature back in the city!

In 2013, the event was a great success, with more than 250 participants, being considered the biggest of the year in Europe related to the theme. This year, the event is scheduled for October 26th , in the same location – the Maia Forum – where a green roof has been installed. In these 10 years, the topic of green roofs has seen great development, both in Portugal and around the world. Numerous cities on different continents have incentive or mandatory policies for green roofs.

The Maia ’23 International Green Roofs Conference will be an event of great interest and projection for architects, landscape architects, civil engineers, municipal technicians, urban planners, municipal managers, biologists, technicians in the area of ​​green spaces, entrepreneurs in the construction sector, among others.

In Portugal, the National Association of Green Roofs emerged and the Technical Guide for Design, Construction and Maintenance of Green Roofs was published.

The Maia ’23 International Green Roofs Conference aims to discuss the following themes:

• Presentation of green roof projects in Portugal and around the world – practical cases
• Municipal Strategies/Policies, with a view to the development and implementation of green roofs. Special attention will be paid to the reasons why these strategies are important and how they should be designed.
• The importance of the existence of technical reference documents that prevent serious errors in the design and installation of green roofs.

The program includes guided visits to the green roof of Forum Maia and the Torre do Lidador – Maia 360º, subject to registration. As in 2013, at the end of the conference, an experience-sharing session will be held between speakers and municipal technicians.
