'Greensulate LLC
announces that it has been awarded funding from The New York City
Department of Small Business Services (SBS)'
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
New York, NY - February 3, 2010 –
Greensulate LLC, the leader in the
design, engineering, installation and maintenance of Green Roof Systems,
announces that it has been awarded funding from The New York City
Department of Small Business Services (SBS). Greensulate was one of
fourteen businesses selected during a highly-competitive process, which
considered a company’s ability to impact economic activity in the city,
and to provide entry-level and current workers with significant career
advancement opportunities.
“We are honored to have been recognized by the The New York City
Department of Small Business Services (SBS) as a growth company that is
having a positive impact,” said
Amy Norquist, President and founder of
Greensulate, “and as residents, companies, and real estate managers in
cities like New York embrace our innovative, energy cost saving Green
Roof Systems, we hope to have an equally positive long-term impact on
the environment, in areas such as stormwater management, one of many
ancillary benefits of Green Roofs. We plan to use the SBS funds to
continue our expansion into residential, commercial, industrial and
government buildings across the country. Growing our sales team will
help us achieve those goals.”
“NYC Training Funds are helping businesses across the five boroughs take
innovative steps in retraining their employees to prepare them for new
roles and responsibilities,” said SBS Commissioner Robert W. Walsh. “New
Yorkers are enhancing their skills to meet the new demands in fields
such as manufacturing, green technology and healthcare.”
Greensulate is featured in the January/February 2010 issue of Stanford
Alumni Magazine. “[Greensulate’s] green-roof business has been booming,
growing 35 percent in 2008…The fiscal benefits of Green Roofs are
great,” Norquist says in the profile, “but I've always been a
mission-driven person.”
Norquist has been a guest lecturer on Green Roof Systems and building
envelope efficiency at Columbia University, and she has been published
in the The New York Times, The Huffington Post and elsewhere.
Greensulate was featured at The Innovation Economy Conference 2009
(presented by The Aspen Institute and Intel) and was also named in the
top five of "Opportunity Green's Top Start-ups of 2009."
