If you want to see how one landscape designer celebrates life by having school children experience science and sustainability through education with green, living plants, then you can’t miss “Urban and Social Needs of Green” by Marc Grañén from our Greenroofs & Walls of the World Virtual Summit 2015 ~ Connecting the Planet with Living Architecture: People, Projects & Design above or on our VS2015 Virtual Summit 2015 playlist on our GreenroofsTV channel on YouTube.

It’s been over a year since we concluded our third Greenroofs & Walls of the World Virtual Summit, and as promised, we are now releasing the 23 videos from our 30+ international speakers to the general public.

Today we are spotlighting the individual “Urban and Social Needs of Green” short Inspiration Nook Video by the soft-spoken Catalan, Marc Grañén, a landscape artist and creator of PhytoKinetic, who has been constructing and developing greenroofs – even on vehicles – and greenwalls within northeastern Spain for several years.  During the Virtual Summit 2013 he graced us with his beautiful, almost poetic, video “Phyto Kinetic: Gardens in Movement,” which you can see here.

As you may know already, even if you are not presenting at the Virtual Summit, as an attendee you can submit your 3 minute (non-overtly commercial) video of research, ideas, projects, poster boards, thought leadership, etc., which are then followed by your own live Discussion Chat.

This series is focused around sparking conversation, ideas, dialogue and connections around a specific greenroof/wall-related topic – a mosaic of bright ideas for a greener world.

Marc says “Yes, we have a serious problem, as we haven’t understood what sustainability means.  Fortunately, there are more and more of us, who day by day, are working hard to solve this.  The path is long and hard, but full of shades.  As a landscape artist I always try to capture Nature at what it does best: exist.  And this happens because Nature itself is sustainable, otherwise it would have never existed.”

Bescanó, Spain. Marc Grañén says, “My artistic point of view of life and my intense love of natural landscapes make the perfect combination for what has become my daily occupation. I am a landscape artist. Nature is my inspiration and my family, my best teacher. We live in Bescanó, our small hometown in the northeast of Spain.

I’ve created artworks in China, Spain and Russia, and been a speaker in several conferences in the UK, Spain, the Netherlands, China, France… with interviews in media of all continents. I created PhytoKinetic, the first and unique worldwide patented system to make greenroofs on top of vehicles. I have created many private greenroof and greenwall projects, and more than a dozen educative edible greenwalls in Barcelona public schools.”
