If you’re wondering what’s going on in New Zealand in terms of built greening in this stunningly natural verdant country, then you have to watch “Greenwalls in Middle Earth” by Graham Cleary from our Greenroofs & Walls of the World Virtual Summit 2015 ~ Connecting the Planet with Living Architecture: People, Projects & Design above or on our VS2015 Virtual Summit 2015 playlist on our GreenroofsTV channel on YouTube.

It’s been a year since we concluded our third Greenroofs & Walls of the World Virtual Summit, and as promised, we are now releasing the 23 videos from our 30+ international speakers to the general public.

Based in Auckland, Graham Cleary is the founder and owner of Natural Habitats, the New Zealand pioneer in greenroof construction.  Graham is a wonderful all-around guy who is passionate about greening his gorgeous country of New Zealand.  Although we had met him prior at one of the yearly greenroof conferences, Aramis and I were able to spend about a week with him and his lovely wife Lucy in October, 2014 after the World Green Infrastructure Congress 2014 in Sydney.

I was not only invited to speak at a private function for Natural Habitats in front of about 100 people, but we were invited to spend some relaxation time at their beautiful vacation home on the unique Great Barrier Island beforehand – a lovely experience we’ll never forget!

And as any fan of LOTR (Lord of the Rings for you non-geeks) knows, “Middle Earth” is the setting for J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantastic and fantastical stories, chock-full of Elves, Dwarves, wizards, and, of course, Hobbits.  So it’s not surprising Graham would title his presentation “Greenwalls in Middle Earth,” right?
