Copenhagen has set itself the ambitious target of becoming the world’s first carbon neutral capital by 2025. It’s now mandatory in the City that all new flat roofs at or under a 30 degree-pitch, both private and public, have to be vegetated.  Green roofs as part of future urban design offers many options that meets the needs of today and tomorrow.  How do we make this outstanding alternative to conventional solutions as a part of our urban planning and design?

Dorthe says in Copenhagen and Denmark we are in a process of still growing attention and awareness of this multifunctional climate adapted solution and still more municipalities incorporate the green roofs as part of their planning.  But we are also facing some challenges like quality and economy in the choice of green roofs and how to meet these?
