Brooklyn Grange, the world’s leading soil-based rooftop farm business, is seeking an experienced, positive, hard-working individual to help expand its Design/Build department. The Design/Build department is charged with the design, construction and maintenance of varied projects that include commercial green roofs, rooftop meadows, residential roofs/terraces/yards, indoor green walls, edible landscapes, stone and wooden hardscapes, irrigation, and more. The Project Manager will be responsible for planning and installing these projects, as well as executing facilities improvements and custom fabrications at all Brooklyn Grange locations. Key responsibilities will include installation project planning, materials procurement and coordination, onsite construction and execution, and crew management and oversight. For facilities-related work at Brooklyn Grange’s own locations, the Project Manager will undertake carpentry, systems improvements, interior finish work, light plumbing and electrical work as-needed, and vehicle fleet maintenance. The facilities work will serve the business as a whole, directly impacting the growth and success of all departments across the company. The Project Manager role will primarily focus on offsite installations of green spaces, with facilities work serving as an important secondary aspect of the role during non-installation periods. The Project Manager will collaborate with the Landscape Designer, providing feedback on estimates as well as design and materials input for project proposals, and will be responsible for client communication onsite. The Project Manager will report to the Director of Design/Build, and will also collaborate with other Project Managers, as well as the garden Maintenance team to ensure all installations and maintenance sites are set up for long-term success.
