Project Description & Details

Orchard Central Mall, situated at the junction of Orchard and Killiney Roads, is Singapore’s tallest and first vertical pure-retail mall, overcoming land area limitations with 11 storeys above ground and 2 basement levels. It boasts multiple outdoor viewing areas with a commanding view of Orchard Road, including three outdoor “green” balconies appealing to alfresco food & beverage outlets. The air-conditioned shopping street discovery walk and the rooftop garden are both accessible to the public 24 hours a day.

The rooftop garden, designed by acclaimed Japanese interior designer, Takashi Sugimato, features 3 large living walls and balcony rail on the 11th floor and 2 lower green walls on the 12th floor roof terrace. The landscape roof system, including the sub-soil drainage for the landscape roof garden and planter boxes, uses the VersiCell sub-soil drainage cells and the greenwalls consist of Vertical Greening Modules (VGM), both by Elmich. Orchard Central Mall is a winner of the Singapore Institute of Architects and National Parks Board’s Skyrise Greenery Awards in 2009.
